The Petty Home, a turn-of-the-century Queen Anne, is being fully restored by Miles Honeycutt. Miles is the same general contracter who oversaw restoration of the Clapp-Ferguson home and Winston's Broken House, both in the Cleveland-Holloway neighborhood. Miles is restoring the home in keeping with historic elements of the original house to a single family dwelling. Check back often and watch this great home come back to life.

Rainbow Bright

What a difference a day makes. Tuesday, it was all white primer. On Wednesday, the first coat of paint is up in all the rooms. Today, the interior paint should be all done! The back yard issues are resolved as Nellie and Courtney had a chance to look it over with Miles this afternoon. Miles and I measured out all the closets for shelving this evening. Lights and counters should be going in by the end of the week. Boom, Boom, Boom! The action never stops.

This is just the first coat of paint so it'll look a lot better in a few days but I can resist posting these. Note: these rooms appear a lot darker than they really are. Ahmad and crew of Graduate Custom Painting have paper up to protect the windows while they work.

Office - Temperate Taupe SW 6037

2nd Bedroom - Leisure Blue SW 6515

For some reason I was having trouble getting a clear shot of this room (maybe all the dust in the air) but it's basically a darker shade of the blue in the kitchen.

Hall bathroom - Napery SW 6386

This is actually the same color as the trim on the outside of the house. We wanted a lighter color in this bathroom since it has no windows.

Master Bedroom - Folksy Gold SW 6360

The wall on the right of this photo is getting redone to fix the bow in the wall that got dry walled over prematurely. I can't stress enough how impressed I've been with Miles' work ethic. He makes sure the job's done right even if it's not the cheap or easy way and it has made this whole process so much less stressful than it could have been. An amazing guy to work with. If any of you readers are in need of contractor, I can't recommend him enough.

Master Bathroom - Waterscape SW 6470

Ignore the electric blue behind the patriotic ladder in this photo. That is a protective water proofing barrier that goes under the tile. Nellie and I did paint one of our apartment bathrooms a similar electric blue when we lived in Boston. Let's just say it made early morning showers a little intense. We can't wait to see this bathroom finished with all the tile work and glass shower door that will span the width of the room.

Our good friend Matt stop by with his dog Cleveland (brown) and I got to meet Jeremy and his dog Tunk (black) who recently came down from Philly to help Greg with the Cob House. Tunk and Cleveland look so much alike (except for color). This is one of the things I LOVE about this neighborhood. I always plan on stopping by the house for a quick meeting with Miles or to check up on house progress, and inevitably I end up staying for much longer chatting with neighbors. Sometimes I even get invited over for dinner. I already owe Matt and Jessie a few dinners at this point. I can't wait to move in so we can have some folks over for impromptu dinner parties.

Recently, we've met Mrs. Leathers who lives in the blue house next door to ours and has lived in the same house for over 40 years. This week, I met Betty Petty who lives across the street. She is also a long time Cleveland-Holloway-er. I asked if she had any relation to the Petty's of our house's name-fame, but she wasn't aware that the first occupants of our home in 1907 shared her name. Apparently, it's a fairly common name in these parts. This past weekend we also met some future neighbors, who will be moving into the house across the street from ours that faces Elizabeth St. They seem like a super nice couple and will be moving in just a week after we do. It feels great to know that we'll be surrounded by so many awesome folks. We can't wait to get to know them all better.
