I almost titled this post "Pictures of men's fannies" since you'll notice all the photos of butts in this post. Instead I went with a vague Billy Idol reference that only a few of you will get. Sorry, my brain is a little squishy these days. Anyway, the primer coat is up and all the walls are eagerly awaiting color that should be going up this week, if not today. We're still sorting out some back yard division issues which will hopefully get resolved in the next day or so as this is a primary concern. We're also toying with the idea of moving the closing date to the 23rd to give Miles and crew time to get the certificate of occupancy so Nellie and I can live at the house legally and not be considered squatters when we move in. But things are moving along and we're getting closer and closer. Hopefully we can close on the 20th as planned. There will still be work to be done once we close but as long as the inside is mostly ready to go I'll be happy.
Booty photo #1 - Miles' tile guy is finished putting in the floor tiles for the bathrooms. He still needs to do all the subway tile for the shower and bath but it's looking great so far. We also talked about what we'll do around all the decorative mantels in three of the rooms. The tile guy (whose name I can't recall) said he might be able to get his hands on an antique cast iron fireplace cover for one of the rooms. I really hope that works out.
Booty photo #2 - Miles talking with his painter last week about his timeline for getting all the paint finished. The inside still needs to be finished and the outside needs some final touch ups.
White is the new black. Also there are some hard wood floors under all that dust that will need some attention soon but more on that when the time comes. Emon also got us matching doors for the laundry closet at the end of the hall. Again...that guy does some amazing work! Bill Graham (another neighborhood contractor) hired Emon to build the deck on the back of the house he's finishing across the street from ours. As I was leaving the neighborhood last night I saw Emon and his son working on said deck by flood light. That guy is the hardest working man I know.
Primed living room. Also all the trim work is now totally done including the baseboards, molding, and trim under the windows thanks again to Emon.
There's a beautiful kitchen under there somewhere I swear. In the bag on the island are all the drawer pulls and knobs that are to be installed once the painting is completed. And according to a note scrawled on the dry wall, the granite is getting installed on Friday with the sink attached.
One of walls in the master bedroom had some bowing in it that was supposed to get corrected before the dry wall went up. Unfortunately Miles had to go back and redo this after the fact. It's still not perfect but should be a lot better and will hopefully blend in once the walls get spackled and painted and has a large piece of furniture in front of it.
There's also now a cute little door in one of the master bedroom closets for access to the hot water heater that will be above the old fireplace which now longer has a chimney.
The biggest news this week is the addition of Mr. Jackson Miles Honeycutt to Miles' family. Miles' wife gave birth on mother's day and Miles was beaming yesterday when I met with him. Strap a little hard hat and tool belt on that guy and tell him to get to work! Seriously though - we're so happy for Miles and his wife and their healthy baby boy. Can't wait to meet the little guy - so much hair already!
