...inside the house that is! So the roof is getting replaced after all. We're sad to be losing the old tin roof but we'd hate to see all the great work that Miles and his crew are doing get messed up the first time it rains hard for a few days. In place of the tin roof, Miles is installing a gray shingle roof which should keep the water out and last for years to come. Again, this is another shining example of Miles and his crew doing the right thing even though it's not the cheapest or easiest. Miles sent us some photos today of the work that's already begun and I'm sure there will be at least a few other roof blog posts in the near future. So stay tuned for all the exciting details - I know you're all as fascinated by roofing as we are!
This shot from the back yard shows the work they've banged out today. One problem area was the roof between the two gables on the back of the house. It was basically a flat area that collected water and leaves. Left unattended for the past many years, it lead to some rot that was causing leaking issues. Miles and his crew are adding a steeper slope to better drain off the water. You can see that sheeting is also up on part of the house. The roof is slated to be done by the end of the week.
