The Petty Home, a turn-of-the-century Queen Anne, is being fully restored by Miles Honeycutt. Miles is the same general contracter who oversaw restoration of the Clapp-Ferguson home and Winston's Broken House, both in the Cleveland-Holloway neighborhood. Miles is restoring the home in keeping with historic elements of the original house to a single family dwelling. Check back often and watch this great home come back to life.

Window Trim

A lovely and blustery day in Durham. Window framing is almost done and the screens are going in. When it's cold out the screens can go up in the attic (post to come).

We're hip young kids so here's a hip photo of the windows looking awesome. Maybe this is only exciting to me.

The two windows on the front looking in on the kitchen.

Emon (the one man home building machine) framing out a window on the back of the house. It's been great getting to know him during this process.

Replaced boards on the front porch. Can't wait for the some serious porch hanging.

  1. I think the window frames are exciting! So often I see new windows in older homes and they stick out like sore thumbs. It's nice to see how this framing allows you to have new, energy efficient windows but keep a really nice, coherent aesthetic for your 1920s home.
